Volunteer at Sylvia Mendez
If you are a parent or guardian of a current Sylvia Mendez student and want to volunteer in your studentโs classroom, please contact your studentโs teacher or the room parent. If you want to volunteer somewhere else at school, please contact Directora Carriedo or Alejandra. And of course, the PTA can always use volunteers as well!
If you are a community member or a non-parent family member, we welcome you to learn about how to volunteer at our school through the Berkeley School Volunteers (BSV). Register with BSV is required and includes training sessions and an official volunteer badge!
BSV consists of two distinct programs: Classroom Volunteers (CV), who provide weekly support in classrooms for students and teachers, and School Support Volunteers (SSV), who focus on district-wide initiatives such as food security, library support, and special projects.
Together, these programs help ensure that every student benefits from a high-quality public education. We invite you to explore the opportunities within each program and find the best fit for your skills and interests.
