Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten (K) Information Night 2025-2026
Families interested in enrolling their children in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) or Kindergarten (K) at Sylvia Mendez for the 2025-2026 school year are invited to our Information Night.

School Tours
During the enrollment season, we welcome families to tour Sylvia Mendez Elementary School. Guided tours led by current Sylvia Mendez caregivers will be held on Thursdays at 8:30 AM.
Tour Dates: Tours begin on November 14, 2024, and continue through January 21, 2025.
Exceptions: Please note there will be no tours during Thanksgiving Break or Winter Break.
Scheduling: To schedule a tour, please call the school office at 510-644-6290.
Important Tour Visit Guidelines (BUSD Policy)
To ensure a smooth and respectful visit, please adhere to the following BUSD policies:
Appointment Required: Please make an appointment by calling the school office before visiting Sylvia Mendez. This allows us to be prepared for your arrival.
Check-In: Upon arrival, please report to the front office at 2840 Ellsworth Street to sign in.
Adults Only: To minimize classroom disruptions, visits are for adults only. We kindly request that no children, including infants, accompany you on the tour.
