Sylvia Mendez Elementary is the only two-way immersion school in Berkeley Unified School District. As well-funded as the Berkeley schools are, there is not enough money to cover all the expenses of the education each student receives at Sylvia Mendez. Each year our families and community generously step in to fill the gap with our annual fundraisers.
The money raised helps pay for our amazing farm and garden program, school field trips, academic and literacy support, vibrant community programs, and supporting families in need.
