What are the Rainbow Families priorities?

1. Educate

Advocate for LGBTQ+ issues at Sylvia Mendez and within BUSD community. For example, bring the community together to advocate for rights like gender inclusive bathrooms for students.

2. Advocate

Educate our students on the the power of the LGBTQ+ community throughout the school’s curriculum, working to tie in LGBTQ+ themes with other cultural celebrations like Latine/x Heritage Month.

3. Celebrate

Provide a safe, welcoming community for Rainbow Families through social meetups during the school year, Rainbow Fridays, participation in the school-wide cultural event, the school-wide Pride event, and an open forum for parent communication.
